Almost in no time February 19’ is over, and with it the selections of the month! 🙌

Remember, if you didn’t have the time to read January Selects, go ahead and check it out Monthly Selects.

Let’s start the sharing!

Journey Notes

Fraser & Whitsunday Islands
Queensland, Australia

Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The last of the last stories from Australia.

My confession goes here, it has been amazing to re-edit and share these two stories.Fraser and Whitsunday were truly an experience, both islands had its unique beauty and I feel so lucky to have been there to show you.

However, the Australian journey couldn’t have finished in a better way. A highly recommended adventure, living aboard Ocean Quest vessel for the 3 days, diving 4 times a day and seeing an incredible marine life. The Great Barrier Reef left us speechless, so I hope it does you the same.

Amazing Places

This month it has been quite busy with something in the making, but I’ll share that in a few days. Therefore I simply had a weekend getaway.

 Cerler ski trip February 2019

A weekend in the Pyrenees, in particular Cerler Ski Station, Huesca, Spain.Three days of skiing in which, even though the snow wasn't at its greatest conditions, I recharged inspiration for a month. Being surrounded by the nature beauty, by high mountains, getting hit by the strong wind, it simply remind me how small we are, and we had fun days on the slopes too.

Bits of inspiration.

This month, maybe more than others, I felt the need to share how lucky we are to live we were we live. Yet, we’re recklessly using all natural resources of the planet. We are worshiping the God of money and just buying and wasting, while others live in poverty destroying the environment to survive, but we, destroy the environment in order to have more than we need.

It’s difficult for me to share a remarkable sentence or quote from Jane Goodall, so I would highly recommend to watch her talking.

”Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference”
- What kind of difference you make?

This 25 min film tells the story of Rankin Jackson’s struggle to provide for his family while trying to survive the push of drug running and ultimately how fly fishing revealed his road to redemption.

”I’m not afraid of drug runners, you know? I’m afraid of Pirates”

”What about if I get killed? What if I get hijacked? What if I they take me to prison - You got the opportunity to get 10.000 $, and buy his medication for a year? - I don’t wanna lose my son, I’d do anything for him”

We are so fortunate to have been born in a peaceful place, with resources, and yet we don’t feel that as a privilege. This film will show some of it, go watch it.

I hope these stories encourage you to seize the week, month, year and find your way to make a positive impact.

Insightful Words

Sidetracked, Volumen 13

Two stories,

A story about chasing tornadoes in the US.
Incredibly well written made me want to go straight away into a storm an feel the power of dust, wind, and rain.

She goes with her dog, two horses across 1.000 miles in Patagonia,
and having been there it really made feel what she had gone through.
A powerful written story. See more of it in her site.

Well, that’s enough internet for today! I really hope the above mentioned inspires you to make a change.

Once again, would you like to share something that inspires you?

Journey Notes

New South Wales

Queensland

Two more stories from Australia.

First, arriving onto Sydney, a city that really captivated us, we enjoy the vibes and saw us living there for a while.

The latter, Queensland, a huge state in Australia, quite long to drive, but spectacular nonetheless, if I had to choose, Wallaman Falls were the highlight.

Go ahead and immerse yourself in some road tripping vibes to start the year!

Amazing Places

I had the chance to visit a couple of places.

Asturias 2019, Cangas de Onis, Lagos de Covadonga, Bulnes, Picos de Europa

The first weekend in January I spent a weekend in Picos de Europa National Park, Asturias, in the north of Spain.

I knew it was going to be amazing, however, it really surpassed my expectations. The north of Spain it’s spectacular and once again I saw that.

 Avoriaz ski trip January 2019

Last weekend of the month I went to Avoriaz, France. Past year we missed the skiing trip, and this year we couldn't miss it again.

Avoriaz itself is this amazing, a little village at 1800m, with the slops straight from your apartment. I never thought we could ever stay here.

Snow conditions were superb, and have a few days in the snowed mountains with friends is priceless, isn't it?

Bits of Inspiration

My inspiration comes mostly from the natural world in we live in, whether an expedition, saving the animal kingdom or sharing ways of living more sustainable, this month I bring something that’ll make you think, and maybe drop a few tears.

Community United for Elephants

A four-minute video that shows the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in northern Kenya. The first-ever community-owned and run sanctuary in all of Africa, rescued orphaned elephants are looked after by local keepers from the Samburu community. They are lovingly rehabilitated and raised with the ultimate goal to reintroduce them back into the wild.

104km-40c-mongolia

“Scottish Ultra Athlete & Merrell Brand Ambassador Dr. Andrew Murray ran 11 hour, 104km in -40C in Northern Mongolia.”
Simply stunning. You can read and see the pictures in the story.

The Shadow Campaign Volume V

“It’s pretty simple, it’s dark blues, and it’s whites” - Oskar Enander had no intention of ever becoming a photographer. Today he’s an iconic photographer in the field, and most impressive, colorblind. Truly inspiring video.

Insightful Words

Another Escape, Volumen 11

This volume by itself has been one of the most inspiring I’ve read in a while.

I’m like the cold, the snow, the rain, and, honestly, every single story in this volume got me excited.

On the other hand, this volume tackles a real problem, Climate Change, and its consequences.
We don’t see much of those, however, in the polar regions, those consequences are faster than ever,
shorter winters, unstable climate, less snow, ice melting fast.

I encourage you to read the whole volume, you can purchase it here. And personally, I highly recommend two stories:

  • Get on board, an essay to present the Zero Emissions project.
Important to Michael is that the project reaches audiences otherwise unengaged with climate change. And hopes to empower younger generations to lead the change towards less destructive lifestyle, to do so he shares his ideas to become more conscious of the daily life decisions such as cycling instead over using the car, or reducing meat consumption.

  • Into de Backcountry.
A journey over a frozen fjord, using technology and knowledge that’s long been integral to the Inuit way of life in Greenland with dog musher Stella Davidsen Olsen

  • Do you have any feedback over these monthly newsletters?

  • Do you like what you see?

  • Would you like something else?

  • Do you have an inspiring story to share?

I’m all ears! And I would love to hear from you!
